Paper Adventures Team Hop | In with the new

Hello! We all made it to the end of the week! How was yours? I’ve had a really lovely week filled with work, stamping, and family – all of which brought me great happiness.

I’ve also had the pleasure of sharing quite a few projects with you this week as part of my design team commitments and tonight’s a fabulous hop with my Paper Adventures Team. The theme is ‘In with the new’ and I can’t wait for the team to show you all the ‘new’ crafting they’ve been doing.

My project from today uses my very favourite suite from the new 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue – Expressions in Ink. I love every part of this – the stamp set (great sentiments), the die set (amazing centrepiece die), the DSP (oh my – watercolour!) and the ephemera pack (bling!).

I used all the elements of the suite to make this sweet card for a new team member who joined our Paper Adventures team during the Join+ promotion. The big floral die in the Artistic Dies adds a wonderful wow factor to all your projects. You can use it plain, cut the pieces apart or add stamped flowers behind the die cut like I have in this card.

The dies in the set also cut the stamped flowers and leaves from the coordinating Artistically Inked stamp set. This set has a watercolour effect. Christina Wrede shared a great tip on Instagram during the week to apply ink to your watercolour style stamps with a blending brush. I found that a combination of techniques worked for me – inking directly from the ink pad and then smoothing the ink out with a blending brush was perfect.

The DSP has gold foiling on one side of each of the patterns – it’s so wonderfully deluxe! The ephemera pack has gold die cut accents and adhesive backed sequins that add the perfect finishing touch to all your projects. Social Stamping | neutrals

Hello! Thank you for joining us for April’s Social Stamping Blog Host. I’m hopping with a small but amazing list of ladies today. We’re all sharing projects made using the Neutrals colour collection. These 10 colours could be considered the core colours – the ones that go with all the others. Which is the inspiration for my cards today.

I’ve made 4 cards to share – each showing off a perfect pairing of a neutral and beautiful match.

You’ll recognise some colours in here that I often use together. Let’s start with Smoky Slate and Daffodil Delight…

If you’ve read my blog before you may know that I really love white, yellow & gray together. The bundle for this card is the Pretty Perennials stamp set and Perennial Petals Dies. I cannot get enough of these!

The next pairing is Night of Navy with Melon Mambo. Night of Navy, Mossy Meadow and Merry Merlot were included in the neutrals collection when the colour refresh happened several years ago. Stampin’ Up! felt these deep & rich colours were most often used in the same way you’d use black, brown & gray.

The bundle I’ve used for this card is the Sweet Strawberry stamp set and Strawberry Builder Punch.

Next up is Sahara Sand and Rich Razzleberry. I use Sahara Sand all the time but I feel it can sometimes get overlooked as an option for a fabulous base colour. It’s cool yet warm, subtle yet rich and can complement so many of the colours in the other colour families.

The bundle for this card is the Wrapped Bouquet stamp set and Wrapped Flowers Dies.

The final combination I’m sharing today is another solid favourite and one I use often – Crumb Cake and Mint Macaron.

Featuring the super cute Kangaroo & Company stamp set and Kangaroo Dies.

Social Stamping Blog Host | neutrals

It’s the last Saturday of the month which means another Social Stamping Blog Host. They come around quickly as this year speeds by – but the good news is that I get to hop with my friends and we get to share more inspiration with you.

I, like many, was hoping that as the months of this year ticked by we’d be seeing a global grip on the pandemic and a shift towards whatever a COVID controlled life is going to look like. Unfortunately with numbers still on the dramatic rise in so many countries and the vaccine rollout taking time, we continue to sit within the effects of one crazy little virus. Who would have thought a mere 18 months ago that this would have been the world’s pathways.

Luckily, there is comfort and security in the online space and even if we can’t be together in person, can’t fly to places that used to be so easy to get to and can’t make plans without a level of uncertainty, we can still share, communicate and experience with each other through social media, blogs and other internet connections.

Today we are sharing projects made using the Neutrals range of colours from Stampin’ Up! These 10 colours are designed to be the colour range that bring together your overall use of colour. Together with Basic White, Basic Black and Very Vanilla they are the glue of colour choices and although it’s possible to make a project without using a Neutral or Basic colour, they definitely make the Stampin’ Up! colour wheel go round!

Social Stamping Blog Host | In Colors

Hello! Thanks for joining us for another Social Stamping Blog Host. These hops started almost exactly one year ago – tomorrow is the one year anniversary of Social Stamping Blog Hosts! That means it’s now over a year since our vocabulary changed and we started using phrases like social distancing, our shopping habits changed and toilet paper became the hottest commodity (I’m still none the wiser why people are stocking up on TP for a respiratory disease!) and lockdown became the new way to stay in.

Through a combination of factors including geographical isolation, border controls, and reasonable compliance with government issued instructions, Australia continues to be in an incredibly fortunate position amongst the ongoing chaos of COVID-19. Particularly here on the west coast where we are able to work, play and go about our day-to-day business with very few limitations. I am acutely aware that the rest of the world is not experiencing the same level of freedom and avoidance of all things virus. My thoughts are with you and I hope we start to see some control over the global spread.

The themes for the first part of 2021 are all about colour and I am joined by my wonderful stamping friends to share projects with you featuring the In Colors. There’s always two sets of In Colors in the Annual Catalogue, each staying with us for 2 years before making their exit. We are just about to say goodbye (in early May) to the 2019-2021 In Colors –

The 2020-2022 In Colors will stay for another full catalogue cycle –

I can’t wait for you to see all the fabulous creations from the stampers who are joining in today. Social Stamping | brights

Hi there! Thanks for joining me and my Stampin’ friends for the first Social Stamping Blog Host of 2021. I started these hops in 2020 as a way to stay connected during the pandemic. The theme for today is the Brights Colour Collection. I think this is the happiest range of colours and projects made with these colours are fun and bold and interesting.

I made two cards for this hop so I could use all 10 colours in the Brights collection – Poppy Parade, Melon Mambo, Flirty Flamingo, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Pacific Point and Gorgeous Grape.

The first card uses Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo, Poppy Parade, Mango Melody and Daffodil Delight.

I cut the Detailed Hearts Die in Basic White cardstock and then again in the DSP so I could layer the hearts within the frame. So I didn’t waste any of the DSP, I cut 1.5″ strips of each colour and then cut out just the segments of hearts I needed.

I won’t lie, this card was time consuming – but it’s worth placing each of those little hearts into the space and filling it up with pretty colour.

The sentiment for both cards is from the Sweet Strawberry stamp set – white heat embossed on black cardstock as I love the contrast of black, white and the pop of colour from the Brights.

The second card has been swirling around my mind for a while – I’ve had feathers on the brain! And the combination of Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Pacific Point and Gorgeous Grape seemed like the perfect colour combination to make it come to life.

The feather die is from the Nature’s Thoughts Dies. The pretty scallop edge is from the Be Mine Stitched Dies. And the die I’ve used for the hello there sentiment is from the Hippo & Friends Dies.

Next up on the blog hop for some more bright creations is my gorgeous team member Lisa Whitehead. Lisa took advantage of a joining special with Stampin’ Up! a couple of years ago and has just celebrated her 2 year Stampinversary.

Stamp Review Crew | Art Gallery

Hello! Stamp Review Crew is setting a record pace in 2021! Our third week in a row, with a bonus Sale-A-Bration hop keeping us busy last week! Why not!, when there’s so many great sets to choose from!

Today’s set is Art Gallery and the coordinating Floral Gallery Dies. This bundle is part of the Fine Art Floral suite, so there’s also DSP, Specialty Acetate, ribbon, embossing folder and Gilded Leafing Embellishment to enjoy as well!

I have seen so many gorgeous cards made with this bundle. It didn’t actually make the cut on my first order, but I have since been convinced by the creative genius of others that it really is a lovely bundle that I needed to own!

This card is a swing card in a landscape orientation. I’ve made this style of card before (back in 2016 – visit the archives here!) and thought it was time for a revisit. Changing one feature of a fold you know and love, has the potential to make it fresh again – which is exactly what happened for me with this style.

This card starts with a fold standard card base (half of an A4 sheet here in Australia), which I stamped all over with one of the Art Gallery stamps. I used So Saffron ink on Bumblebee cardstock to get a watermark effect where the ink wasn’t too bold against the card.

The middle of the card front was just using a die from the Hippo & Friends Dies. It is the perfect size and shape to fit the ‘just want to say’ words in the Floral Gallery Dies. To help stick this on, I used Adhesive Sheets on the white cardstock before cutting it. This means no messy glue when applying to the front of your card. It was also handy to use the die negative to line up the words!

Placing the die cut back into the space, I stuck it to the folding mechanism in the middle of the card so that it sits in place when closed, but when you open the card, it remains in the middle while the rest of the card front opens.

The folding mechanism is the length of an A4 page (trimmed ever so slightly to 11-5/8″) x 5-5/8″and then scored at 3-7/8″ from each end (along the long side). This will give you three even panels which you can concertina fold. Adhere the bottom panel to the card base so that it folds out towards the top of the card.

I decorated the middle of the card with a stamped flower & leaf using the Art Gallery stamp set & Floral Gallery Dies. The flower is in Poppy Parade ink and the leaf is in Shaded Spruce ink.

The Gilded Leafing Embellishment on this card looks amazing! To achieve this look, I stamped and die cut the flower, stamped the accent in Versamark, applied Heat & Stick Powder and then melted with my Heat Tool. While the powder was still tacky, I dropped it into my tub of gold leaf and then rubbed over it with a Stamping Sponge to remove the excess. I have my gold leaf in a large container so that I can use it and keep all the flyaways contained in one space.

The sentiment for this card is a simple ‘happy birthday’ in Early Espresso ink on Petal Pink cardstock, cut with the cute scallop rectangle die from the Floral Gallery Dies. I’m always sold on a stamp set with a great birthday option!

Just Add Ink #537 | Family Blog Hop

Happy New Year from the Just Add Ink Team! We’re starting off with a traditional blog hop. The theme is family. One of my favourite things about card making is being able to add a personal touch. Whether it’s making the card and gift coordinate, using their favourite colours, or creating a theme that’s uniquely them.

This card is for my brother-in-law who is mad about his drone.

He’s recently started sharing his drone photography and they are sensational! Check out his socials – Facebook & Instagram. He lives in Albany, a coastal suburb of south western Australia which makes for picturesque land & sea photos. We were lucky enough to visit last year and did some wonderful sightseeing. This is Team Kent at the Wind Farm.

Although Albany isn’t primarily known for it’s lighthouses, they do have terrific coastline and I loved the symbolism of the High Tide stamp set. Albany is known for it’s many peaks, so I’ve combined this set with the Waterfront stamp set to create an ocean & beyond inspired card.

This card gave me a chance to play with new and old favourites including getting my new Blending Brushes inky and trying out a cloud mask (brand: My Favourite Things). The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set and the DSP is In Good Taste DSP. At new catalogue launch times, I find I really have to focus on everything I have in my collection – not yet the newest additions.

The final touch for this card was the drone, which is a free png image I found online cut in black vinyl on my Silhouette Cameo machine and applied to the card. This shape would have been so hard to piece together using Stampin’ Up! supplies, so I’m grateful to have a range of tools at my disposal to make my vision come to life.

Stamp Review Crew | So Sentimental

Hello! Thank you for joining us for the first Stamp Review Crew of 2021! My international friends and I will continue to bring you inspiration at least twice a month using a selected Stampin’ Up! stamp set. We hop the first and third Monday of the month with a bonus hop on the fifth Monday if there’s 5 Mondays.

Today’s hop features projects using the So Sentimental stamp set from the 2020-2021 Annual Catalogue. This stamp set is bundles with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies which are the perfect size labels to coordinate with the sentiments.

You know I love a good sentiment set, especially one with gorgeous fonts! This stamp set lends itself to so many occasions. I’ve paired it with a range of other products in my stash and have 4 cards to show you today.

Social Stamping | oh 2020!

Happy New Year’s Eve! It’s my final post of 2020 and I’m so pleased to be joined by some amazing friends for the last Social Stamping Blog Host post of 2020.

I started these posts in March 2020 as the pandemic was starting to take hold and the world was taking a turn into unchartered territory for many of our generation. A pandemic in the 2000s with frequent travel and instant information certainly made for an interesting speed – both in terms of spread and news. Social Stamping in the blogging sphere was a great way for us to stay connected and purposeful while everything else seemed to be unpredictable and a bit gloomy.

The theme for today’s hop is “Oh 2020!”. It was open to my stamping friends who were joining in to interpret that as it fit for their recollection of 2020. My recollection is not of doom & gloom. Whilst there were moments of despair (Mr Papercraft being told not to return to work for an indefinite period of time was definitely one of those!), my memories of 2020 are largely positive. I enjoyed time at home with my kids (our daily walk was a highlight), a chance to reflect on what was important and the opportunity to slow down for a while.

We have been incredibly sheltered from the harsh reality here in Western Australia (though I do recognise that this depends on circumstances and those in the arts and hospitality and people separated from loved ones may have a very different view). Very strict border closures have meant very little spread of the virus and although we had a brief lockdown and home schooling experience, it has been mostly life as (new) normal for us. Social distancing is a loosely followed concept and we have returned to hugging, shaking hands and barely keeping our distance. This was a post from my personal Facebook on Christmas Eve reflecting on how blessed we are. How magical is that beach sunset?

So, with that as my experience, my card to reflect today’s theme – Oh 2020! – is one of thanks. I am thankful to live in WA, thankful to have kept relative normality to our lives (for now), to have been able to see loved ones, to spend special occasions with family & friends and to have continued to work within a safe and low risk environment.

My card is a mix of old favourites and new products which we get to know and love in 2021. While it’s good to reflect on the past, I’m looking forward to the future and optimistic about what it could bring!

The new products are from the Jan-June 2021 Mini Catalogue and Sale-A-Bration Catalogue. “Thanks” stamp is from the You Are Amazing stamp set and the Flower & Field DSP is a free choice from the SAB catalogue with a $90 order from 5th Jan 2021.

Familiar favourites are the Triple Banner Punch and flowers from the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set (2020-2021 Annual Catalogue).

While I am spreading out the thanks, thank you to everyone who visited my blog in 2020. To everyone who left a comment, tried a project I shared or followed me here on one of my socials (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest). It’s always fun to reflect on the year, so here’s my 2020 in review…

It’s been a good year! But without an audience to blog to, blogging is not nearly as fun, so thank you so sharing this with me!

One last thank you for 2020 goes to my family – my family at Papercraft HQ (Mr Papercraft, the mini Papercrafts and Nanna & Grandad Papercraft). Your patience with 5 more “stamping minutes”, tolerance of dinners on the table later than I had in mind after I got waylaid with something stamping, allowance of sleep ins after night owl bedtimes and compliance with the sanctity of my craft room gives me the room to be happy and creative. The other half of this thank you is to my Paper Adventures team – my stamping family. Your friendship and sense of belonging to the stamping community kept it in my priorities for another year!
