Happy Mother’s Day 2021

Mother’s Day is another reason on the calendar to make a card – your own mum, a new mum, fur baby mum, remembering your mum, celebrating the mums who got promoted to grandmothers, sending love to a mother figure… Mother’s Day means something different to each person.

For me, it’s a chance to reflect on how lucky I am to have the three Mini Papercraft’s bringing me joy and driving me crazy in equal measures on a daily basis.

I am also blessed with an amazing Mum who loves and supports us in every way she can. This is the card I made for her –

I seem to be in a green phase at the moment! It’s funny how your brain favours colours. This is Just Jade, Sahara Sand and Mint Macaron.

The leaves are from the Forever Flourishing Dies, sentiment from the Dressed to Impress stamp set, embossing is the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder and dies from the Dressed to Impress Dies and Stitched Rectangles.

One of the products I added earlier in the year to my craft stash is a wax seal kit from Fiona Ariva and I’m in love! They make great envelope seals that complement the high quality of the Stampin’ Up!envelopes so well.

They also make a fantastic embellishment on a card front to elevate it to the next level!

The wax is a mix of green tones with a dried hydrangea flower and a twine bow. The finishing touch is a Soft Succulent In Color Jewel. Did I mention how much I’m loving greens – I think the addition of Soft Succulent into the colour range has a lot to do with it!

I hope you have a wonderful Sunday. The Mini Papercraft’s have promised me a home spa day – I’m not sure if that’s going to be a rewarding experience or kids revenge?! 🙂

2021 Annual Catalogue | It’s go time

There’s nothing more exciting than a new catalogue! Pretty pages filled with new things you “have to have”. Hopefully you’ve got a hard copy already hanging out in your house. If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s the link to the online PDF. You can also message me to request a copy.

Unlike previous catalogue cycles, the 2021 Jan-June Mini Catalogue hasn’t retired yet. So, you currently have two catalogues to shop from – the Mini and the new Annual. This means you can combine old and new favourites – a pairing that hasn’t happened before!

We’ve been enjoying seeing the new In Colors in action across April as demonstrator’s preorders arrived. They are Fresh Freesia, Polished Pink, Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent and Pale Papaya.

I’ve combined Polished Pink, Evening Evergreen and Soft Succulent with the Wrapped Bouquet bundle from the Jan-June Mini Catalogue.

There’s two different bouquet options and two different ways you can wrap them in this set. I shared the other style of bouquet in posts here and here (click on the links to check them out if you missed them).

This style of bouquet has such pretty flower and I really love the 3D effect of the newspaper wrap. The die embosses all the folds required, so you cut out one piece and then fold.

If you want to, you can stamp the newspaper print on the folded wrap but I love it as a background accent for this card. I’ve cut three Very Vanilla Stitched Rectangles in the same size and stamped them in Sahara Sand ink.

The flowers for the bouquet are stamped in Soft Succulent with fussy cut Polished Pink accent flowers. I used a section of the Polished Pink stamped image that didn’t have flowers to cut the heart – using a die from the Kangaroo Dies set.

The final touches for this card are the twine holding the tag on and the Happy Mother’s Day sentiment. It’s cut using the now retired Stitched Shapes Die but until I wait for some of my new catalogue things to arrive, that was the perfect shape for what this card needed. Retired doesn’t mean our relationship is over! Some Stampin’ Up! is forever!

What’s your idea of the perfect Mother’s Day gift? Does a handmade card with a Stampin’ Up! Gift voucher sound perfect? Start dropping hints now. I can provide your family with the card and gift voucher! Give them my details and I’ll take care of the rest!

Social Stamping | neutrals

Hello! Thank you for joining us for April’s Social Stamping Blog Host. I’m hopping with a small but amazing list of ladies today. We’re all sharing projects made using the Neutrals colour collection. These 10 colours could be considered the core colours – the ones that go with all the others. Which is the inspiration for my cards today.

I’ve made 4 cards to share – each showing off a perfect pairing of a neutral and beautiful match.

You’ll recognise some colours in here that I often use together. Let’s start with Smoky Slate and Daffodil Delight…

If you’ve read my blog before you may know that I really love white, yellow & gray together. The bundle for this card is the Pretty Perennials stamp set and Perennial Petals Dies. I cannot get enough of these!

The next pairing is Night of Navy with Melon Mambo. Night of Navy, Mossy Meadow and Merry Merlot were included in the neutrals collection when the colour refresh happened several years ago. Stampin’ Up! felt these deep & rich colours were most often used in the same way you’d use black, brown & gray.

The bundle I’ve used for this card is the Sweet Strawberry stamp set and Strawberry Builder Punch.

Next up is Sahara Sand and Rich Razzleberry. I use Sahara Sand all the time but I feel it can sometimes get overlooked as an option for a fabulous base colour. It’s cool yet warm, subtle yet rich and can complement so many of the colours in the other colour families.

The bundle for this card is the Wrapped Bouquet stamp set and Wrapped Flowers Dies.

The final combination I’m sharing today is another solid favourite and one I use often – Crumb Cake and Mint Macaron.

Featuring the super cute Kangaroo & Company stamp set and Kangaroo Dies.

All the bundles from today’s cards are from the Jan-June 2021 Mini Catalogue. This catalogue runs through until 30th June so there’s still plenty of time to add favourites to your collection. Not everything carries over to the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue, but don’t worry, there’s plenty more new sets coming that you’ll fall in love with.

To see what everyone else on this great little hop made, keep clicking on the next button to tour the whole blog hop. From here it’s onward to my gorgeous friend Narelle Simm. Narelle and I will actually be camping together as this goes live! I wonder if she packed stamping supplies!?!

You can see the full list of participants by visiting the main blog hop post – click here.

Thanks for joining us and being part of the April Social Stamping Blog Host.

Mother’s Day 2020 | Double Flower Box

Happy Mother’s Day. I hope you’ve had a wonderful day, and despite the challenges of life as we know it at the moment, that you’ve been able to connect with, share memories of or make plans to see your mum. For those of you who have children, I hope you were able to add new memories with them this year – either in person or through technology.

I had a lovely day with the three Little Papercrafts. I scored a sleep in, a leisurely cooked breakfast, some time in the sunshine, a family catch up via Zoom and dinner with Nanna Papercraft.

Mother’s Day 2020 | Nanna Papercraft & the Little Papercrafts

When your Mum loves card making and stamping supplies as much as you do, there’s a little bit of pressure to create a fabulous card for special occasions. Thankfully Nicole Wilson’s Double Flower Box Card came to the rescue!!! You can find Nicole’s tutorial in the May Flower Tutorial bundle from The Dimensionals. Click here to view Nicole’s post and click here to go direct to the page where you can purchase the tutorial.

This is one of those great folds that folds down flat to fit into a normal envelope, even though it’s wonderfully 3D when opened up.

Here’s the front with Painted Poppies stamping, Best Dressed DSP and Stitched So Sweetly Die with a sentiment from the Timeless Tulips stamp set.  The colours for this card are Mint Macaron, Blushing Bride, Sahara Sand, Lovely Lipstick and Whisper White.

And here’s the middle when it opens up….

I was blown away by all the design features of Nicole’s card tutorial. She included ribbon placement, full cutting instructions for the clever planter box and great embellishment like the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder for the background.

The planter boxes are a card in a box style (which are not my favourite to put together) but the instructions make it so easy!

Here’s what they look like from the top angle.

The flowers for my card are fussy cut (with lots of love) from the Best Dressed DSP and layered on the front and middle layers of the planter boxes.

This card was so much fun to make and a win with my Mum!

After a busy but fabulous day, I’m going to spend the last few hours of Mother’s Day sitting quietly with a cup of tea made in my new kettle!

Mother’s Day 2020 |Tea Together

As I scrolled through the last chance retirement list, I was reunited with stamp sets, that sit on my shelf, but had been totally forgotten by me!

Tea Together stamp set, and the coordinating Tea Time Dies, from the Annual Catalogue will both retire on 2nd June, and are both available at a discount until then (or supplies run out).

No matter how many stamps on the shelf, there’s always some that get used more than others.  This one was definitely a forgotten favourite!  And it has such a lovely Mother’s Day sentiment, so the timing of my find, with Mother’s Day coming up on 10th May, is perfect.Tea Together | kelly kent

I love drinking tea – it’s my favourite drink (I would drink 4-8 cups a day) and although I rarely use a tea pot to brew it, every tea drinker knows that brewed tea from china cups always tastes better!  The Little Papercrafts have kindly bought me a new kettle for Mother’s Day that boils water on the top of our wood fireplace.  I hear it takes the tea to a new amazing! I wonder if I can talk them into giving it to me early?

Tea Together | kelly kent

The stamp set and dies are not the only retiring items featured on this card.  We’re also saying goodbye to:

  • Stitched Label Dies
  • Blueberry Bushel cardstock, ink & ribbon
  • Neutrals DSP stack (this may have already sold out in the Australian online store)
  • Tufted Embossing Folder (I’m very sad about this one!)

If there’s anything you’d like to add to your craft supplies before it sells out, my online store is open 24-7 with shipping straight to your door. Click here to shop.

What forgotten set has gathered dust on your shelf?  It’s time to wipe off the dust and have another play!  What inspired you to buy it in the first place?  Check out Pinterest, Google & Instrgram to see all the new inspiration your crafty friends have added since you bought it.  Make and share a new creation!  It’s time to love our forgotten stash!

Have a great crafty week,

Stamp Review Crew | Dressed to Impress

Hello and welcome to the safest way to travel the world at the moment – through an international blog hop!  You’re currently visiting Kelly Kent in the South West of Australia, having jumped over from Nikki Spencer on the eastern coast.  This is my favourite beach to take the kids to swim – the inner harbour.  It’s always calm and is a great shallow depth for the kids to splash around in.

With COVID-19 having impact across the globe, I want to take the chance to give you a virtual hug and pass on my thoughts that you are all healthy & safe.

This virus is somewhat all consuming at the moment – it’s on tv, in social media and in everyday conversations.  In fact, unless you are in total media & social blackout, it’s very hard to avoid.  And that can be overwhelming and scary.  I love this Fred Rogers quote – look for the helpers!

No photo description available.

Scientists are rapidly building their knowledge of the virus and it’s behaviour, our public health teams are working around the clock to give guidance on policy & procedures that will keep us as safe as we know how and our global medical teams are amazingly taking care of business as people become unwell.

For anyone who ends up in some form of quarantine, isolation or social distancing, I hope your craft room provides you with some solace.  If there was ever a time to hibernate and craft til your heart is content – this is it!

The Stamp Review Crew are today sharing projects inspired by the Dressed to Impress stamp set and Best Dressed suite.  We hope we can provide you with some inspiration on how to use your supplies at home.

I love the mix of floral and cosmetic images in this suite.  So I’ve mixed those two themes to create this sweet card.

Dressed to Impress | kelly kent

The card base & base layer are Rococo Rose cardstock with Subtle Embossing Folder.  The background flowers were stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and then coloured in Stampin Blends (Rococo Rose, Pink Pirouette, Petal Pink, Pretty Peacock).

Dressed to Impress | kelly kent

The centrepiece is labels from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies in Blushing Bride & Mint Macaron with a perfume bottle stamped in Memento & coloured with Rococo Rose & Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Blends. I love being able to make the perfume pink.  The matching dies (All Dressed Up) take away the need to fussy cut any of these images!

While I was studying at university to be a Speech Pathologist, I worked at a department store, and for most of my 5 years there, I worked in the cosmetics department.  I spent my weekends selling lotions & potions, perfumes & sprays, lipsticks & eyeshadows.  The perfumes in particular were always so mesmerising, in their fancy bottles and with their beautiful scents.  Chanel #5 is undoubtedly one their most recognised scents, but the pretty pink “Chance” was one of my favourites!

Dressed to Impress | kelly kent

I’ve made this card into a Mother’s Day card, which is very organised for last-minute-me!  Please remind me of where I have stored it in 2 months time!!!

Next visit is to Charlet Mallett in the US –

Thank you for joining us!

Wonderful Mother’s Day

It was Mother’s Day here in Australia today.  I enjoyed a weekend of family time as I celebrated being a Mum to my three mini Papercrafts and also celebrating with my Mum – Nanna Papercraft.

I received thoughtful gifts from my gorgeous trio – a handmade box with gift vouchers, a personalised decorated stationary set, presents from the school Mothers Day stall, cards & artwork from school and a cute llama mama nightie which I shall be snugly wearing to bed tonight!

Here’s a proud Mum share of their handmade papercrafts (with thanks to Nanna Papercraft for being the facilitator).

Mother's Day 2019 | kelly kent

I’m also sharing one of Maddie’s Mother’s Day artworks because it was so cute – my love of paper, stamps & inks is no secret in this house!

Mother's Day 2019 | kelly kent

For my Mum this Mother’s Day I’ve been working on a Mini Album Card using Floral Romance DSP.  I love the combination of green, purple, pink & white – in such a delicate balance.  I was able to complete it this week when my Everything is Rosy Product Medley arrived.

Wonderful Romance + Everything is Rosy | kelly kent

Sometimes when products have an identity within a bundle, it’s hard to see them any other way, but the stamps & dies that come in the Everything is Rosy Product Medley are so versatile, they go with lots of the other Stampin’ Up! designs – especially florals.

Wonderful Romance + Everything is Rosy | kelly kent

Somewhere between a scrapbook album and a fancy card, the Mini Album is a great way to take the card to a whole new level!  This is the second Mini Album card I’ve shared.  You can find the first one as part of the ESAD blog hop last month with full instructions – click here.

Wonderful Romance + Everything is Rosy | kelly kent

You can see how well the stamps & dies blend with the DSP for a wonderful collaboration.  Mixing between suites & bundles gives new life to everything you own!

The sentiment stamp set I’ve used for this card is called Strong & Beautiful and is on page 48 of the Occasions Catalogue.  It’s full of empowering words and fabulous phrases – ready to stamp and send to your Mum, girlfriends, team members or other women in your life worth admiring.

Wonderful Romance + Everything is Rosy | kelly kent

The vellum sheets in the Floral Romance DSP are so delightful!  Delicate yet bright, they add elegance to every project!  For this card I’ve used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere them to Whisper White cardstock before adding them as a layer to my card.

The Floral Romance DSP is on the Last Chance Retirement List.  If you love this DSP, it’ll be worth stocking up now before it is no longer available.

You’ll find the links to all the products I used in the table below.  Click to be taken to my online store where you can browse til your heart is content!

I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend, and the week ahead is filled with wonderful!

The Rose Gold features throughout this suite are fabulous – from the foiling on the DSP to the edging on the ribbon, Rose Gold Foil, Shimmer Paint and mirorred embellishments.  Plus, there’s more Rose Gold that I wasn’t able to fit on the card in the form of printed & foiled die cuts.

The medley is $139 – and includes:

I thought I had used everything in the medley to make my card, only to realise I’d left off any of the amazing die cuts!  I’ll have to show those in another card soon.

I was so excited to have this bundle arrived, I did a Facebook Live when I unboxed it.  See the replay below…

Mother’s Day 2017

Don’t freak out – I’m a day early on the Mother’s Day celebrations!

Nanna Papercraft goes away today so we celebrated last night.

Which means I can share my 2017 Mother’s Day card and gift with you, just in case you’re a deadline runner (like me) and it helps with anything you’re creating this weekend!

Mother’s Day 2017 is all about new catalogue sneak peeks!

Nanna Papercraft’s card is made using the upcoming Wood Textures DSP (absolutely gorgeous), Lovely Words Thinlits, Decorative Ribbon Border Punch, Seasonal Layers Thinlits, Glitter Enamel Dots, Finely Woven Ribbon, Copper Trim and 2 of the new In Colors – Berry Burst & Powder Pink!

That’s a whole lot of new lovelies in my stash!!!  Feeling very lucky right now!

Mother's Day 2017 | kelly kent

It’s such a wonderful perk of being a Stampin’ Up! demo to have all these items to play with before the catalogue release next month!

And of course, there’s always all my favourites that are carrying over, like Thoughtful Banners.

To match her card, I made a decorated paper cube to go on her craft desk.

Mother's Day 2017 | kelly kent

The copper trim is truly amazing!  It’s coiled tightly along, but a little teasing and it forms all kinds of shapes.  You have to see this in person!!!

In an absolute stroke of luck, Kmart are currently selling these paper cube pads with rose gold (copper) edging and pink dot pages, which matched my project perfectly!

Mother's Day 2017 | kelly kent

I do love a fabulously matching project – and if the stationary matches too, well, that just makes my day!!!

Mother's Day 2017 | kelly kent

Happy Mother’s Day to Nanna Papercraft!  Hope the cocktails are cold, the seas calm and the other passengers aren’t too annoying!

Love Team Kent x
