Stamp Review Crew – Lift Me Up

Stamp Review Crew - Lift Me Up

An exciting Stamp Review Crew today as we hop around the world showcasing the Lift Me Up stamp set – and coordinating thinlits!

You may have started this hop with Bronwyn Eastley in Tasmania, Australia and travelled this way to the other side of the country (Bunbury, Western Australia) – or this part of the world might be your first point.

Stay down under with us for a while before taking off back to the US for more great projects.

Lots of the cards I’ve made with this bundle have been created using the colour palette from the Carried Away DSP – bright & fun.

I wanted to try some soft & pretty cards for today’s hope projects.

The starting point for each of these cards was a different shape from the Stitched Shapes Framelits – one circle, one oval & one square.

I watercoloured each piece with a different favourite subtle colour & then decorated with stamped & white heat embossed shapes from the stamp set in the same colour to create three different monochromatic cards.

Cards don’t have to be complicated to be lovely – sometimes clean & simple is best!

Next up on the hop is the gorgeous Rochelle Blok – one of many Artisans on the crew.

There’s certainly a lot of talent in this group, so enjoy as you hop around the world and collect ideas for how you might use your Lift Me Up bundle.

If you get lost anywhere along the hop due to a broken link, head back to the Stamp Review Crew blog to get you on track again!

CASEing the Catty #110 Party Animal

12371218_10153736740662158_9102306381153319857_o

Hey there!  Welcome to our first CASEing the Catty blog hop of the year.

We’re hopping around Australia & New Zealand to share projects with you that were inspired by the photos from current Stampin’ Up! catalogues.

New year – new format.  So for 2017, we’re moving to Facebook as our main platform (rather than the CTC blog).

We’ll still be having a weekly blog hop, but all entries will be uploaded to our CASEing the Catty Sunday Challenge Facebook page.  Click here to request to join us for all the fun.

As well as being excited about the new format, we’re also buzzing with the new products from Sale-A-Bration and Occasions 2017 catalogues last week.  Two new catalogues to CASE and inspire!

Today it’s all about the Party Animal section of the 2017 Occasions Catalogue – pages 4-7.

The Party Animal suite is all about bold colours & fun animal images.

Although I love the card samples in the catalogue, it was the ceramic animal figures that I was drawn to – particularly the elephant.

And how “lucky” that the new catalogue also contains a fabulous elephant stamp set!!!

This super cool dude inspired my first card.

I inked up the Lucky Elephant stamp in Versamark, stamped it directly onto the DSP and heat embossed with white powder.

I finished it off with a party hat (just like in the catalogue), some white twine, a bold Curry Curry card base and a birthday sentiment.

I always forget that stamping & colouring DSP is an option- but I should do it more often, it’s awesome!

No time like the present.. So I made 2 more embossed elephants using different DSP patterns from the Party Animal pack.

Do you love the textured balloons?  They are from the Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits dies – so many fabulous pieces!

And those birthday senitments???  They are from the Balloon Adventures stamp set, which is part of the Party Animal suite.

You can buy the thinlits & stamp set together for just $90.75 and save yourself 10%.

Want to hear something else awesome?  They balloons in this suite match the existing Balloon Bouquet punch!!!

Next stop on the hop is the wonderful Tricia Raineri.

If the Party Animal projects are calling your name (and there’s more in this section of the catalogue than just this suite- check out pgs 4-7 of the Occasions catalogue), please join us for our monthly challenge – over on the new Facebook page.

It’s a great way to get the most out of the new catalogue products that you buy.

Decorative Corner Fold Card

#imbringingbirthdaysback

Today is Kristel’s birthday.  Happy birthday!!!

Kristel was the first member of my team and is a wonderful companion to share my journey with.

Since we’re bringing birthdays back, it seems fitting that the card should be fun, vibrant and a little fancy.

This wonderful Decorative Corner Fold card was designed by Debbie Henderson of Debbie’s Designs.  We made the Botanicals version during last month’s Tuesday class after Joy found it online and thought it looked pretty special.  She’s right – it’s fabulous!

The reasons for it’s fabulousness are simple – it’s easy to make but looks fancy and can be prettied up in any way you like.

For Kristel’s card, I’ve gone with Party My Way DSP, Balloon Celebration balloons and Endless Birthday Wishes sentiments.

I took lots of photos of this one to show off all the features.

You can follow Debbie’s measurements and directions exactly (instructions here, video here), or you can follow my slightly adapted measurements to fit with Australian cardstock.  You will get two Decorative Corner Cards from one piece of A4 cardstock.

Instructions:

  • Cut your cardstock in half (so you have 8-1/4″ x 5-7/8″)
  • Score across the long edge at 2″, 4″, 6″ & 8″
  • Place a strip of Tape & Tear along the 1/4″ edge left by the scoring
  • Adhere this to make your ‘box’
  • To make the front panel, punch 2 x 1-1/4″ circles. Fold in half & with the folds meeting, place adhesive on the back & adhere to the card front.  Place adhesive on the front & add your decorative panel (the picture above or Debbie’s video will help if this doesn’t make sense!).

Enjoy decorating your card with whatever stamps & DSP fit your theme.  Thanks to Debbie for her generous sharing of her instructions & measurements.  Kelly x

Stamp Review Crew – Balloon Celebration

Balloon Celebration banner

This week at Stamp Review Crew we are celebrating the beautiful “Balloon Celebration stamp set” from the Occasions catalogue.

Because this is a blog hop, there’s a round the world trip to see all the beautiful crafty creations.  You might have travelled via Nikki showing off her talents or be starting here.  Either way, you’re in for a treat.

If you get lost along the way, click on the banner above and it will take you to the main page where you can see the full list of participants.

Balloon Celebration is a great stamp set because it has a variety of sweet images – balloons, dandeloins, clouds, a wheel (?), stars, a bow and more if you’ve got a great imagination.

Which gives you so many options (as you’ll see on this hop!).  There’s also fabulous sentiments which means you can use it for practically any card.  Or combine it with other stamp set or product suite (it goes perfectly with the Have A Cuppa range) and the card options are endless!

Today I’ve decided to showcase the cloud stamp from the set – and include as much sparkle as I could!

The balloons are wonderful, but there’s just so much you can do with this set to stop at the balloons.

The first card I’m sharing is my favourite – I can’t wait to send it off to a new little princess!

The balloons are double stamped to give them a deeper colour {because you can do that sooooo easily with photopolymer stamps!} and finished off with a generous splash of clear Wink of Stella.

The awesome sentiment stamps on this card are from the Happy Happenings stamp set in the Annual Catalogue.

As an aside, it’s getting to that time of the year when I’m nervous to see what will & won’t carry over in to the new catalogue.  Not too much longer to wait now!

Once I was on a roll with the subtles colour scheme, this was the next card with sparkly clouds & pastel stripes.  I think it will make a perfect birthday card for one of Alexa’s little classmates.

The clouds are embossed with the simply stunning Iridescent Ice embossing powder – so much sparkle!  And how lovely is that Pool Party ribbon???

Of course, I couldn’t make a card without adding some of those signature balloons using the coordinating punch (because we all love sets with coordinating punches).

It ended up being a subtle feature, but I actually tried to add in some shading on the balloons by stamping over the original image twice – each time blotting off ink from the right side of the balloon (which ends up being the left side of the stamped image!).  This is a great technique to use with photopolymer stamps as you can see through them to get that second & third inking just right.

That’s it from me today.  Keep hopping so you can get the full inspiration intake from the crew.  Next up is Dawn, who despite a self-confessed lack of mojo is totally rocking this stamp set!  Gold embossing powder is always a winner!

If you have time to leave us a comment or two as you hop around, we sure love hearing from you!  Kelly x

Happy Birthday Sweet Girls!

Today is a very big happy birthday to 2 sweet little girls.

Miss I is 3 today and we’re excited to be celebrating with her!

This is her fairy princess ballerina card – it could be all of those at the same time, right?

Ballerina Princess Fairy Punch Art card using Baby's First Framelits & Botanical Builders Framelits. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

The punch art dress uses the Baby’s First framelit onesie and Botanical Builders 3D flower framelit.

How super cute is the ruffled effect of the skirt using the Botanicals framelit???  The die cuts the middle out of the petal, so it naturally lifts and has great texture.  It’s hands down one of my favourite products from the Occasions catalogue.  Oh and yep, another touch of clear Wink of Stella!

Ballerina Princess Fairy Punch Art card using Baby's First Framelits & Botanical Builders Framelits. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

Did you spot the limited edition Sale-A-Bration items – Perfectly Artistic DSP and Hello stamp set…  Going in a few short days!!!  Available until 15th Feb 2016 with any $90 order.

It’s also a special day for Little Miss Papercraft who turns 5 today!  I just love the watercolour balloons from Balloon Builders and can’t go past a good ombre effect.  So, this is the fun card I made for her.  Blue was her favourite colour last week – hope it still is today!!!

Balloon Builders Ombre Heart Birthday card. Kelly Kent - mypapercraftjourney.com.

You know it’s love when you’re willing to use the heart balloon stamp and fussy cut rather than the round balloon you can punch.  Thankfully, 5 years old = 5 balloons!

So, happy birthday sweet girls – I know you’ll both have amazing days filled with so much fun and lots of love.  Kelly and the Papercraft team x

What Did You Do Yesterday? We Made Cards …

Yesterday was my Tuesday monthly card class.  Curious to see what we made?

This was the first card using the dandelion stamps from the Balloon Celebration stamp set.  We clear embossed these on Watercolour Paper and then washed over the paper with an Aqua Painter and ink colour of choice – yes, I let them choose their own ink colour and no Mary, I didn’t stop breathing!!!!.  This is the pink version I made using Blushing Bride.

What you’ll need to make this at home …

The second card also featured watercolouring, inspired by the fun I had making last week’s Just Add Ink card.

The peony from the Birthday Blooms stamp set is just stunning and an easy image to splash some colour for beginner or advanced colouring. The front panel of the card is Shimmery White cardstock – a perfect base for watercolouring.  It has a subtle shimmer throughout that’s very special.  But, we couldn’t resist adding a little more shimmer with the clear Wink of Stella pen.

Love the background?  We put the whole card front into the embossing folder, which means the card is textured front & back – I love this effect!!!

What you’ll need to make this at home…

The final card (in what turned out to be a very vertical class!) was a quick & easy masculine card using lots of layers to create interesting texture.  Using a variety of plain, patterned and stamped cardstock is a great way to create a card that is effective, but doesn’t take too much time.  I love the watercolour effect of the balloons from the Balloon Builder stamp set – and who doesn’t love a stamp that perfectly coordinates with a punch!!!

What you’ll need to make this at home…

I hope you’ll get a chance to try 1 or 3 of these cards at home.  They were such fun to make with a lovely group of ladies.

If you live in the Bunbury area and you’d like to book into a class, you can find the schedule here.  I’d love to have you and help you to make cards like the ones above to take home.  Kelly x
