Just Add Ink #475 | Food

Today’s Just Add Ink theme is about one of my favourite topics – FOOD!

My other favourite subject at the moment is the never ending question of ‘when will summer arrive’.  So I’ve combined the two and created a sweet summery watermelon card.

The watermelon as my food item was inspired by the new Pigment Sprinkles.  I had them on my desk from prepping a class last week and they were screaming watermelon to me!  Pigment sprinkles are similar to Brushos – but made with Stampin’ Up! colours.  Beautiful, intense Stampin’ Up! colours.

The watermelon is Melon Mambo and Granny Apple Green on Watercolour Paper (different pieces).  I sprinkled the powders, spritzed with water then left them to dry.  The different crystals within the pigment inks give the most amazing colour variations.  And the colours are so intense!

Once the watercolour paper was dry, I cut three ovals (Layering Oval Dies) – the largest from the Granny Apple Green pigment sprinkles, the next size down from Whisper White cardstock and the smallest from the Melon Mambo pigment sprinkles.  I adhered the ovals together and then cut it in half giving me a cut watermelon segment.  I prefer my real watermelon seedless – but a few black seeds on my craft version finishes it off nicely!  The seeds are from the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch.

Then all my sweet piece of watermelon needed was a card base to go on (Granny Apple Green).  The bottom layers are Garden Green cardstock, Garden Green DSP from the retired Regals pack and Whisper White cardstock embossed with the Corrugated Embossing Folder (currently not available to order but hopefully it will be back soon).

The sentiment is from the Piece of Cake stamp set.  The font is a little smaller than I would have liked, but I love the message!  Besides, the watermelon is definitely the hero of this dish (any Masterchef fans???).

I can’t wait to see what food related stamping you’re going to show us!  It’s going to be sweet!!!
