Hidden Gem| Stitched Greenery

Stampin’ Up! do a great job of displaying their gorgeous products but there’s a few hidden gems in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue that you may not notice on your first flick through. One of these hidden gems is the Stitched Greenery Die plate. It’s a single die that doesn’t cut a shape, but instead embossing a stitched leaf pattern that is just gorgeous.

The colours and styling of these cards were inspired by a card made by Karen Young. You can see Karen’s card by clicking here.

I made two versions – a simpler version of Karen’s using the Artistic Die and a different version using the Layering Hugs Dies. We made the hugs version in today’s Social Stamping class and it was a big hit!

I’ve added in a sentiment from the Artistically Inked stamped set for the card above and one from the Sending Hugs stamp set for the card below.

The flowers are from the Sweet as a Peach stamp set, embellished with Basic Rhinestones. The three sizes are perfect for the three different sized flowers. No need for fussy cutting, there’s a die in the Peach Dies that cuts them out!

If you need to add any hidden gems to your next order, you can find the full range in the online store. I love being able to search, scroll and browse through the categories, making it easy to find all your favourites. Click here to shop or browse.

Social Stamping | Stellar Birthday

It’s cold and wet here today and perfect weather to finish the preparation for tomorrow’s Social Stamping at the Taste of Dalyellup cafe.

Here’s a sneak peek of one of the card options for tomorrow. It’s a spinner card using the Give it a Whirl Dies and Stellar Birthday stamp set.

These dies in all their stitched glory made it so easy to create cards that whirl and create magic. In this card, the planets change colour as you spin the wheel.

The pieces in the kit allow stampers to create a Balmy Blue or Smoky Slate space scene. Which would you choose?

There’s a choice of sentiment from this stamp set, or you could leave it blank for an all occasion card.

If you can make it to Social Stamping, please send me a message so I can save a kit for you.

Tomorrow will be the last week of Social Stamping as we head into school holidays at the end of the week. Social Stamping will be taking a break during July. Mandy will return in August with more cards for you to enjoy.

See you tomorrow!

Social Stamping | Quiet Meadow

What does your Monday look like tomorrow? I’ll be at the Taste of Dalyellup cafe from 9.30am – 11am having some stamping fun. You’re welcome to join us!

Here’s a sneak peek of one of the card options we’ll be making using the Quiet Meadow bundle.

This card has two colour options – Soft Succulent / Evening Evergreen and Petal Pink / Calypso Coral. They were inspired by the colours of the reverse patterns that I’ve used from the Pansy Petals DSP.

The fold is a variation of a z-fold, opening up to see more of the DSP and another panel – which can be used for writing or decoration.

The card can stand up but also folds flat into a normal card size to fit into an envelope.

The Meadow Dies create a beautiful silhouette effect and looks pretty against the background stamps from the Quiet Meadow stamp set.

The sentiments from this set are sweet and look lovely in the stitched & scalloped label die.

There’s only three more sessions of Social Stamping this term. We’ll be taking a break across July and look forward to more Social Stamping from August.

See you tomorrow!

Social Stamping | subtles

Hello! Thanks for joining us for another Social Stamping Blog Host. This is the final hop in this series and I’m delighted that my stamping friends & I are sharing projects made using colours from the Subtles Collection.

These colours form some of my favourites in the SU! range and are always a pleasure to create with. They are soft but not meek with the prettiest of tones and the ability to step in for the projects that we need a little elegance for.

My projects today all use a fancy fold that I’ve lifted from a card I got sent for my birthday by my gorgeous friend Elizabeth Gross. I haven’t seen this fold before – I have no idea what’s it’s called but it’s had me at the clever use of DSP.

The card features a tri-fold using the DSP, which opens out and displays both sides of the DSP. Remember when I said in my Stamp Review Crew profile that one of my biggest challenges was choosing the side of the DSP I wanted to use on a card – well this fold solves that problem for you!!!

Every card sits closed using the seashell tab on the left to keep it all together, but when the right side is opened, you can start to see the DSP patterns revealed.

The fully opened card shows the writing panel…

I’ve made a video to show the fancy fold in all its glory – its so simple but so magnificent!

I’ve used three different patterns from the Sand & Sea DSP. And there’s really no better example of when it seems a shame to only use one side than this pack. It retires at the end of the June (when the Jan-June 2021 Mini Catalogue finishes) so you’ll want to stock up ASAP in June. As a wonderful parting gift, this DSP will be available from 2nd June at a 50% discount. Order via my online store next Wednesday to secure yours plus so many amazing specials as the Last Chance Retirement List takes over. Click here to see what else you can get a discounted price. Click here to shop online.

The stamp & die bundle for these cards is the Friends are Like Seashells stamp set and Seaside Shells Dies. They are part of the Sand & Sea Suite and coordinate beautifully with the DSP.

The ribbon is from my collection and I have no idea which combo pack it was from – it could be retired!! I’m terrible at keeping all the ribbons & embellishments I ever buy and never being able to keep track of what’s in a catalogue and what’s out! As long as it still looks good, it’s ok to use – yes!?!

Did you spy the three Subtles I used in the cards? My favourite is always Blushing Bride, but there’s nothing like a pretty DSP to urge me on to add in different colours. The other two I’ve used are So Saffron and Balmy Blue. The coordinating neutral is a long time favourite – Sahara Sand.

Next up on the hop is Julia Quinn. Julia has been a part of every single hop since they started last year. That’s an amazing commitment – thanks Julia!

You can see the full participant list and a few of my thoughts about our current COVID situation here in Australia over on the main Social Stamping Blog Host post.

I hope the rest of your weekend is amazing!

Social Stamping Blog Host | subtles

I started the Social Stamping Blog Hosts more than a year ago as we were starting to feel the effects of a new world influenced by COVID. None of us were to know what path the virus would take us on and for the most part we are still none the wiser about where to next.

For many of us, and for Australia as a whole, the strategy undertaken by the government to control the virus by controlling the people is keeping us safe. Virus numbers are low and we (for the most part) have the freedom to continue to live a COVID controlled life. I can’t help reflect though what a strange place COVID limbo-land is.

In many parts of the country it’s business as usual. But that’s not without a toll that we simply can’t measure by the number of cases of a virus that is ravaging the world. Our international borders have been closed since March 2020 – no travel out and no travel in without permission from the government. The borders between states have been in & out of closure and the risk of within state restrictions is forever on the agenda. Currently, the state of Victoria are in a week long lockdown because of new COVID cases. There is just as much a risk that this could happen to any state, at any time.

This continues to have a significant impact on Australia’s citizens – particularly those who are already under stress, those with mental health issues and those with employment in areas most affected by lockdowns & restrictions – hospitality, tourism, arts and the aviation industries. My heart breaks for the ongoing pressure on people who are constantly having to rethink, replan and revive themselves and their businesses time after time.

These blog hops have been a wonderful way to connect with stamping friends and provide a regular opportunity to share projects with you – wherever you are around the world.

Today’s hop will be the last one (for now). We finish up with one last colour theme – Subtles. The pastel tones of this colour range bring with them a sweetness and calmness that we sometimes need to wash over us and remind us that everything is going to be ok.

The full participant list for this hop is below. I want to extend my most sincere thanks to every blogger who joined in with a hop over the past 15 months. And another huge thanks to everyone who visited the blogs, enjoyed the projects and gave us purpose to share with you each time.

Stay safe, be kind and putting all the good vibes out there that some time soon we’ll move into a post COVID phase!

Social Stamping | Snailed It

On Sunday I shared a sneak peek of one of the cards we made for Social Stamping (see that post here). I’ve been getting around to blogging these cards all week but between work, kids and my new Stampin’ Up! supplies arriving, it just hasn’t happened – until now! I’m at the hairdressers and what better way to pass the time while the colour sets than by blogging some cute cards.

Just like the other card, there were lots of colour options to choose from in this Snailed It set of cards. This is one of my favourite bundles (Snailed It stamp set and Snail Dies) from the Jan-June 2021 Mini Catalogue. Unfortunately it hasn’t carried over into the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue, so if it’s on your wish list, then you’ll want to make sure you add it to an order some time in the next month. It officially retires at the end of June, but the availability of products isn’t guaranteed after the official retirement list is released (expect that early – mid June).

The basic stamping and layouts were the same using the envelope from the Kangaroo & Company stamp set (doesn’t that coordinate well!) but stampers got to choose between –

POOL PARTY

SOFT SUCCULENT

SO SAFFRON

BLUSHING BRIDE

The label dies on the cards are from the Stitched Rectangle Dies and the Hippo & Friends Dies. The ‘happy mail’ sentiment is punched out using the Postage Stamp Punch.

Do you have a favourite colour snail from the set? I can’t decide between Blushing Bride and Soft Succulent. At Social Stamping, So Saffron was the most popular choice!

If you’d like to try stamping out, meet new crafters and enjoy a cup of coffee, we’d love to have you join us on Monday.

RSVP isn’t essential, but let me know if you plan to be there and I’ll make sure to put a kit aside for your arrival.

Blog post done – now it’s time for the shampoo and head massage part of my appointment. Without a doubt, my favourite part of getting my hair cut!!!

Social Stamping | Wrapped Bouquet

We are off & running for Term 2 of Social Stamping! Mandy and a group of lovely stampers got inky last week and tomorrow it’s my turn to trade in normal life for a couple of hours of crafting escape.

Each session runs for 1-1/2 hours and offers participants the chance to make 2 cards. We start at 9.30am and finish up at 11am – giving to time to either sleep in or do the school run and then time to continue on with whatever else your day holds. We are hosted by the Taste of Dalyellup cafe – located in the Dalyellup shopping centre. It’s a one stop shop for all your everyday shopping with a supermarket, bakery, pharmacy, news agency and other specialty shops.

Here’s a sneak peak of one of tomorrow’s options. I’ve been crafting lots with the Wrapped Bouquet bundle from the Jan-June 2021 Mini Catalogue and I wanted to share how sweet this bundle is with the Social Stamping group. It’s also another chance to play with the newly released 2021-2023 In Colors.

Stampers receive a kit which includes all the supplies to make one of these variations. I always try to have at least 2 samples, but the new In Colors were so fun, I got carried away with three different combinations.

There are suggestions for how you might complete your project, but the finished design is up to you. I wanted these samples to reflect how the same set of cardstock could be layered / embossed or stamped in different ways to create different looks. I can’t wait to see what the Social Stampers create.

The bouquet is stamped in Evening Evergreen, the sentiment in Soft Succulent and the flowers are coloured with Stampin’ Blends – Pale Papaya, Fresh Freesia and Polished Pink. I’ve used white twine in different ways across the three cards and dimensionals to change up what part of the card I’ve elevated.

The neutral colours are Basic White and Sahara Sand. The Sahara Sand layer is embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. I’ve curled over one corner of this layer before sticking it down. It’s easy to do – curl the corner with a bone folder and then use the handle of a skinny paintbrush (or similar) to further curl under into a shape you like.

Every card comes with a quality Stampin’ Up! envelope which is made of a beautiful white heavy paper – perfect for stamping on! I must admit stamping on envelopes is usually an after thought for me, so it’s nice to stop and take the time to make the envelope as special as the card inside!

RSVPs aren’t essential for Social Stamping – you are most welcome to turn up on the day. However, we only have a limited number of kits for each session so if you know you’ll be coming, be sure to let us know so we can hold a kit for you.

See you tomorrow! If you don’t live in the Bunbury area but would like to make these cards at home, all the supplies are available in my online store. Click here to shop.

Social Stamping | neutrals

Hello! Thank you for joining us for April’s Social Stamping Blog Host. I’m hopping with a small but amazing list of ladies today. We’re all sharing projects made using the Neutrals colour collection. These 10 colours could be considered the core colours – the ones that go with all the others. Which is the inspiration for my cards today.

I’ve made 4 cards to share – each showing off a perfect pairing of a neutral and beautiful match.

You’ll recognise some colours in here that I often use together. Let’s start with Smoky Slate and Daffodil Delight…

If you’ve read my blog before you may know that I really love white, yellow & gray together. The bundle for this card is the Pretty Perennials stamp set and Perennial Petals Dies. I cannot get enough of these!

The next pairing is Night of Navy with Melon Mambo. Night of Navy, Mossy Meadow and Merry Merlot were included in the neutrals collection when the colour refresh happened several years ago. Stampin’ Up! felt these deep & rich colours were most often used in the same way you’d use black, brown & gray.

The bundle I’ve used for this card is the Sweet Strawberry stamp set and Strawberry Builder Punch.

Next up is Sahara Sand and Rich Razzleberry. I use Sahara Sand all the time but I feel it can sometimes get overlooked as an option for a fabulous base colour. It’s cool yet warm, subtle yet rich and can complement so many of the colours in the other colour families.

The bundle for this card is the Wrapped Bouquet stamp set and Wrapped Flowers Dies.

The final combination I’m sharing today is another solid favourite and one I use often – Crumb Cake and Mint Macaron.

Featuring the super cute Kangaroo & Company stamp set and Kangaroo Dies.

All the bundles from today’s cards are from the Jan-June 2021 Mini Catalogue. This catalogue runs through until 30th June so there’s still plenty of time to add favourites to your collection. Not everything carries over to the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue, but don’t worry, there’s plenty more new sets coming that you’ll fall in love with.

To see what everyone else on this great little hop made, keep clicking on the next button to tour the whole blog hop. From here it’s onward to my gorgeous friend Narelle Simm. Narelle and I will actually be camping together as this goes live! I wonder if she packed stamping supplies!?!

You can see the full list of participants by visiting the main blog hop post – click here.

Thanks for joining us and being part of the April Social Stamping Blog Host.

PS, Social Stamping in person resumes on 3rd May – we can’t wait to stamp with you again! All welcome, even if you’ve never stamped before or don’t stamp at home.

Social Stamping Blog Host | neutrals

It’s the last Saturday of the month which means another Social Stamping Blog Host. They come around quickly as this year speeds by – but the good news is that I get to hop with my friends and we get to share more inspiration with you.

I, like many, was hoping that as the months of this year ticked by we’d be seeing a global grip on the pandemic and a shift towards whatever a COVID controlled life is going to look like. Unfortunately with numbers still on the dramatic rise in so many countries and the vaccine rollout taking time, we continue to sit within the effects of one crazy little virus. Who would have thought a mere 18 months ago that this would have been the world’s pathways.

Luckily, there is comfort and security in the online space and even if we can’t be together in person, can’t fly to places that used to be so easy to get to and can’t make plans without a level of uncertainty, we can still share, communicate and experience with each other through social media, blogs and other internet connections.

Today we are sharing projects made using the Neutrals range of colours from Stampin’ Up! These 10 colours are designed to be the colour range that bring together your overall use of colour. Together with Basic White, Basic Black and Very Vanilla they are the glue of colour choices and although it’s possible to make a project without using a Neutral or Basic colour, they definitely make the Stampin’ Up! colour wheel go round!

I know you’re going to love the ways my stamping friends have used the Neutrals in their creations. The full list of participants is below. Once you’re started with the blog hop, each blog post will connect to the next one using the ‘next’ button.

Thanks for joining us, have a fabulous weekend.

Social Stamping | Circle Celebration

That’s a wrap on Social Stamping at the Taste of Dalyellup cafe for Term 1, 2021. Thank you to all the wonderful stampers who joined us. We held our final session of the term on Monday and the vibe was great. So many great conversations, lots of laughs and of course, some creative stamping. You can check out one of the cards we made on Sunday’s blog post by clicking here.

Social Stamping | kelly kent

Today I’m sharing the other card, plus a couple of variations to show you how easy it is to use this set for the most versatile card option ever. The stamp set is Circle Celebrations. Circles work for any age, gender and with embellishments or other stamps, you could use it for pretty much any occasion too. These cards use the circles together with the ‘happy birthday’ sentiment from the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set.

Circle Celebration | kelly kent

These were the two layouts I created to inspire creativity on Monday. As always, stampers were welcome to use the pieces in their kit to create their card in whatever design they wanted. There were some wonderful variations using the circles in different patterns, creative use of the white space and varying sentiment placement.

Circle Celebration | kelly kent

The colours are a Bermuda Bay base, Coastal Cabana mat, Bermuda Bay sentiment and circles stamped in Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Pretty Peacock, Smoky Slate and Memento Jet Black.

Circle Celebration | kelly kent

I wanted this card to be suitable for a male or female birthday, so I’ve left off any bling, ribbon or embellishment – other than the Brick & Mortar embossing on the base layer.

Circle Celebration | kelly kent

If you’re creating cards at home and want one to give and a spare for your stash, I suggest cutting two of everything and then creating an alternative by changing the orientation of the card and styling of the layers.

Circle Celebration | kelly kent

And then if you want even more bang for your design, change up the colours, embossing folder or layout. The stamp set works really well in any ombre (or coordinating) colour palette.

Here’s a red version – Real Red, Cherry Cobbler & Merry Merlot

Circle Celebration | kelly kent

And a yellow version – Daffodil Delight, Bumblebee & Mango Melody

Circle Celebration | kelly kent

Thank you to everyone who supported Social Stamping this term – and to Tony & Ivory at the Taste of Dalyellup cafe for hosting us each week. We’re taking a break over the school holidays & ANZAC Day period and will be back on Monday 3rd May (week 3 of Term 2). This coincides with a new catalogue launch and we can’t wait to show you some great new products in the 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue.

I’m able to order catalogues and new products soon, so I’ll start sharing those next month. If you’re a regular customer of mine I’ll have a new catalogue ready for you to post or deliver as soon as they arrive. If you’re new to Stampin’ Up! and live in Australia, please let me know and I’ll get one in your hands.

Enjoy this beautiful Wednesday!
